Jamie Oliver is famous as The Naked Chef. Born on May 27, 1975, Jamie has become a celebrity chef, restaurateur, and television personality who campaigns for healthy diets and cooking habits and against processed foods in school lunchrooms. Jamie was brought up near Clavering, England where his father and mother ran a pub. He enjoyed puttering about in the kitchen and he left school at age 16 in order to attend the Westminster Catering College. His first job in a wholesale apron was working as pastry chef at Neal Yard restaurant under Antonio Carluccio where he learned Italian cooking. He then became sous chef at The River Cafe in Fulham, where BBC noticed him. In 1999 he debuted inThe Naked Chef and his cookbook soon rose to number one on the UK bestseller list. That same year he was invited by Prime Minister Tony Blair to prepare lunch at No. 10 Downing Street. Jamie's trademark is as a proponent of fresh, organic food.

In 2000 Jamie became the face of Sainsbury's supermarket chain through a $2 million yearly endorsement deal. In 2002 he put up his home as collateral to create the Fifteen Foundation, which yearly trains fifteen young adults with disadvantaged backgrounds or histories of drug abuse to work in chef jackets in the restaurant and hospitality business. The success of the original Fifteen charity restaurant in London led to the establishment of Fifteen restaurants all over the world, most recently in Amsterdam and Melbourne. Jamie was awarded an M.B.E. in 2003 in the Queen's Birthday Honours List. Two years later, he began a campaign entitled Feed Me Better to move English schoolchildren away from junk food and towards healthy eating. The idea was to ban unhealthy foods in English schools and to get the children to eat fresh, nutritious food instead. His efforts to reform the school lunch system were chronicled in Jamie's School Dinners series, which challenged the culture of junk food by showing how schools could serve healthy and cost efficient meals which kids enjoyed eating. As a result of his efforts, the English government pledged to address this issue and Jamie was voted the "Most Inspiring Political Figure of 2005" by an annual English national television viewer poll. That same year his name topped the CatererSearch 100 poll, which made him the most influential person in Britain's hospitality industry.

Jamie's emphasizing healthy cooking led to his Jamie's Ministry of Food series in which he travels in chef uniforms to inspire ordinary people to cook healthier meals. His latest show is Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution, in which he travels in West Virginia in order to change Americans' dependence on fast food and help them to eat healthier. Sweet as Candy, Jamie's holding company, has brought him enough money to have made The Sunday Times list him as one of the richest Britons under age 30. A current project is raising $22 million in order to open thirty Italian restaurants in Asia. He was recipient of the 2010 TED Prize for his campaigns to change English and American eating habits for the better. Jamie met his future wife, model Juliette Norton, in 1993 and the couple married in 2000. They have three daughters, and a fourth due September 2010. The family lives in Clavering, Essex.
